“FAQS for Website”:
-
What is a “responsive” or “dynamic” design?
Websites are viewed on a variety of screen sizes including desktop monitors, tablets and mobile phones. InfoTree’s templated website designs create a great user experience, regardless of screen size. Your website content will be arranged to stack vertically or horizontally for the best user experience based on the user’s screen size and orientation. Google searches typically weigh responsive designed websites higher than non-responsive sites, which improves your ability to be seen by customers looking to make reservations.
-
What constitutes a “page?”
Websites are made up of individual web pages that typically include copy and media (logos, photos or videos.) Each web page is available through a unique address (url) that can be accessed in a browser’s address bar. Each unique url on your site will be counted as a page toward your selected website plan.
-
What are hosting services?
Website hosting is included in your website program. This means that your web pages and the supporting files are available on a web server (a computer hosting one or more websites.) A web server sends any web page from the website it is hosting to any user’s browser upon user request.
-
What is required to start the website design process?
Upon payment for the first year of services, consultation calls will be scheduled with InfoTree to discuss the overall vision for your website including your template choice, design/color selections and navigation recommendations. Regardless if you are starting from scratch or redesigning an existing site, InfoTree will set up a staging/proofing website so you may review the website before it is live and request updates or changes.
Avoid production delays by being prepared with your domain name, logo, quality images and/or videos, and social media links. Once all materials are received by InfoTree, a typical website takes approximately 8-10 weeks to develop and launch. Keep in mind that changes and updates are included in the pricing for the entire length of your contract. No change is too small.
-
Domain Names:
A domain name is a unique name that identifies a website often beginning with “www.” and followed by .com, .net or .org. Domain names must be registered by your business and renewed on a regular basis. If you do not already have a domain name registered, InfoTree can provide recommendations on how to purchase and maintain your own business/organization domain name.
-
SSL Certificates:
Many websites use encryption called SSL (secure protocol) for secure areas of their sites, including user account pages and online checkout. When directed to a secure web page, you will typically see the “http” in the url become “https.” SSL Certificates are not included in your website program; however, InfoTree will provide recommendations on how to purchase and maintain your own SSL Certificate if necessary for your site.
-
E-Mail Hosting & Marketing:
Businesses often prefer using email addresses with the same domain name as their website. This requires an e-mail hosting service. E-mail hosting services and e-mail marketing services are not included in website design and maintenance programs, although InfoTree can recommend e-mail services if you do not already have a provider.
-
Widgets
Web widgets are small programs that integrate with your website to provide an interactive and dynamic experience for your website visitors. Common widgets include maps and directions, calendars, weather, social media feeds, blog feeds, etc. Because widgets require special coding to be integrated into your site, InfoTree takes extreme caution in only using trusted widgets that do not promote any risk to the health and stability of your website. If you are using widgets on an existing website that you would like to continue to use on your website, please notify InfoTree in advance to confirm compatibility.
-
E-Commerce:
Many businesses seek to generate revenue from memberships, online donations, product or ticket sales from their website. E-commerce solutions will typically require encryption for secure transactions and payment collections, reporting, etc. For online attraction ticketing, please consider the InfoTree AttractionSuite or contact InfoTree for recommendations on trusted e-commerce software and vendors.
-
Billing
Three-year web hosting service agreements will be billed through CTM Media Group. 50% of the first-year service fee will be due upon signing, with the 50% balance of the first-year service fee required to activate the website. Payment for the second and third year of website hosting and support services will be due in full on the anniversary date of the initial contract signing. Any negotiated customization charges incurred outside of the original agreement will be billed accordingly.
Any AttractionSuite service fees or license fee will be reported and processed through InfoTree, Inc.
-
Google Analytics | SEO | AdWords | Marketing | Social Media
Marketing strategy is not included in the website development, although InfoTree can support your business marketing goals and integrate marketing widgets, social media feeds and include tracking codes into your websites upon request. Search engine marketing, Google analytics, search engine optimization, AdWords and other webmaster tools can be supported but are not managed by InfoTree.
